HFS™ Spring Design Upgrades
The HFS™ springs were designed from scratch to have features most desired by the avid Land Cruiser enthusiast.
FJ40 Owners said they wanted 4" springs with: strength for heavy loads (Bull Bars or Winches), rock crawling flexibility, increased ground clearance, highway stability and a smoother ride than other lift springs offer.
CCOT worked directly with spring design Engineers to create the correct HFS™ spring formula. A combination of mathematics and multiple knuckle busting spring sample fittings made it all come together. Over a one year period, it took an average of 7 fittings per model (FJ40, FJ60 and FJ62) to define a smooth riding spring formula for each Land Cruiser Series.
HFS™ Lift Spring Features:Springs are the heart of any Lift and the HFS™ springs are superior by design features and materials to any Land Cruiser Spring we've seen.
The HFS™ springs are engineered slightly longer to push shackles out and away from axels allowing shackles to swing as springs flex. Proper spring shackle angle creates a much softer ride, reduced leaf stress and improves spring durability. HFS™ springs are slightly longer than other lift springs so as to position shackles (away from axels) at the optimal shock absorbing angle while retaining lift. Maintaining lift while pushing shackle out demands much heavier, beefier spring stack than other Lifts offer.
Proper shackle angle also allows the "Primary Stage" and "Secondary Stage" of HFS™ Springs to function as originally designed by Toyota. Spring Stack, when not under heavy load rides largely on the "Primary Stage" of springs with a comfortable ride made possible because shackles are not standing vertical. (Other Lift Springs create a harsh ride and can not offer the two OEM spring stages because shackle angles are vertical or pull in towards axle due to a spring that is too short. These short springs need Anti-Inversion Shackle) "No Bueno"!
When the HFS™ Springs are exposed to heavy loads then the "Secondary Stage" of spring stack kicks in with the backbone to hold and support the heavy load while utilizing all features of the spring system to work as one.
It's much cheaper to build a spring that positions shackle vertically or pulls shackle in towards axel, but this shorted spring length greatly limits spring flex and creates a bone jarring ride. This cheaper styled spring is designed only to lift a vehicle and has very little to no actual suspension function.HFS™ Springs feature full military wraps (on both ends, not just one end) with trimmed leaf ends so as not to rub shackles. Each military wrap is tighter with special flattened tops for greater Spring hanger clearance and travel.
HFS™ Springs have bolt style leaf alignment clamps (4 ea. per Spring) for superior Off-Road protection and ease of leaf access. Bolt clamps allow maximum leaf articulation without overstressing the main leaf.
HFS™ Springs feature "Round Cut Leaves" to reduce interleaf friction and to distribute load to each spring tip. This greatly contributes to the longevity of spring life.
HFS™ Springs feature Teflon inserts to reduce friction and improve suspension flex. Insert liners reduce friction at the leaf tips where the load is the greatest.
HFS™ Springs feature "Flat Axle Seat". HFS™ Spring Stack center point provides a positive, safe axle mount which reduces spring stress & increases spring life.
HFS™ Springs are designed and fitted exclusively for Stock Toyota Land Cruiser!
"HFS™ Leveler Block" cures the Driver's Side Lean of most FJ40s. CCOT designed and extensively tested our HFS™ Leveler Block FORMULA on many FJ40s. We found that our HFS™ Leveler Block cured the lean on all test vehicles. Block is pre-installed on top of the rear passenger's side spring stack. The "Leveler Block" is an exclusive CCOT product.
