Pre ~ Installation Instruction
Read and Understand All Instructions and Warnings prior to Installation of System and Operation of Vehicle.
Safety Warning
HFS and BDS recommend this system be installed by a professional technician. In addition to these instructions, professional knowledge of disassembly/reassembly procedures and post installation checks must be known.
Product Safety Warning
Certain HFS/BDS suspension products are intended to improve off-road performance. Modifying your vehicle for off road use may result in the vehicle handling differently than a factory equipped vehicle. Extreme care must be used to prevent loss of control or vehicle rollover. Failure to drive your modified vehicle safely may result in serious injury or death. HFS/BDS does not recommend the combined use of suspension lifts, body lifts or other lifting devices. You should never operate your modified vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Always drive your modified vehicle at reduced speeds to ensure your ability to control your vehicle under all driving conditions. Always wear your seat belts.
Pre-Installation Notes
1. Special literature required: OE service manual for model/year of vehicle. Refer to manual for proper disassembly/reassembly procedure of OE and related components.
2. Adhere to recommendations and replacement fasteners, retainers and keepers are called out in the OE manual.
3. Larger rim and tire combinations may increase leverage on suspension, steering, and related components. When selecting combinations larger than OE, consider the additional stress you could be inducing on the OE and related components.
4. Post suspension system vehicles may experience drive line vibrations. Angles may require tuning, slider on shaft may require replacement, shafts may need to be lengthened or trued, and U- joints may need to be replaced.
5. Secure and properly block vehicle prior to installation of HFS/BDS suspension components. Always wear safety glasses when using power tools.
6. Due to payload options and initial ride high variances, the amount of lift is a base figure. Final ride height dimensions may vary in accordance to original vehicle attitude. Always measure the attitude prior to beginning installation.
Post Installation Warnings
1. Check all fasteners for proper torque (Torque is n/a for nyloc nuts. Nyloc nuts should be just snug tight to shackles). Check to ensure for adequate clearance between all rotating, mobil, fixed, and heated members. Verify clearance between exhaust and brake lines, fuel lines, fuel tank, floorboards and wiring harness. Check steering gear for clearance. Test and inspect brake system.
2. Perform steering sweep to ensure front brake hoses have adequate slack and do not contact any rotating, mobil or heated members. Inspect rear brake hoses at full extension for adequate slack. Failure to perform hoset check/replacement may result in component failure. Longer replacement hoses, if needed can be purchased from a local parts supplier.
3. Perform headlight check in adjustment.
4. Check all fasteners after 500 miles to be secure. Always inspect fasteners and components during routine servicing.

Front Spring Installation
1. Safely raise the front of vehicle and support with Jack stands for safety.
2. Remove the tires and wheels. Perform the following procedures one side at a time. Retain all OE hardware.
Front Leaf Spring Removal
3. Support the front axle with a floor jack under the differential.
4. Remove the OE shocks.
5. Remove the anti-sway bar links from the anti-sway bar and the frame. Remove the Spring U-Bolts.
6. Remove the Spring-to-frame pivot bolt and spring-to-shackle bolt. Remove the spring from the vehicle.
7. Remove the shackle-to-frame bolt and remove the shackle from the frame. Remove and discard the OE frame shackle bushings.
Front Leaf Spring Installation
8. Mount front springs with long side away from axle toward the front of the vehicle. Install the new bushings in the spring eyes and frame. Use a thin coat of grease on the bushings to aid in installation and eliminate squeaking.
9. Inspect the OE pivot and shackle bolts for excessive wear and replace as necessary. HFS / BDS offers greaseable pins to replace the OE pivot and shackle bolts. HFS / BDS also offers greaseable shackles which replace both OE pivot/shackle bolts and OE shackles.
10. Install shackles to frame. Do not tighten.
11. Install the new leaf spring on the vehicle and fasten with OE hardware or HFS / BDS greaseable pins/shackles. Do not tighten at this time.
12. Lower the axle onto the spring, making sure to align the spring center pin with the hole in the spring perch. Install new HFS U-Bolts, nuts and washers. Torque U-Bolts to 80 ft. lbs.
13. Install new shocks with OE hardware and tighten to manufacturer's specifications.
14. (For BDS Only) Install the new anti-sway bar end links. Assemble the links using 3/8" x 9" bolts, nuts, stem washers, and stem bushings with the 5/8" x 5" sleeves. Torque the end links to 20 ft-lbs.
15. Install tires and wheels. Lower the vehicle to the ground.
16. Bounce the vehicle to settle the suspension before tightening shackle bolts.
Rear Installation

17. Follow the instructions for front. Mount rear springs with long side away from axle toward the rear of the vehicle.
18. Install the recommended shocks and check all brake lines to ensure that no binding has occurred and that full extension does not stretch the lines.
19. Check all fasteners for proper torque (Torque is n/a for nyloc nuts. Nyloc nuts should be just snug tight to shackles).
20. It is recommended that vehicle have a front end alignment.
21. Align headlights.
22. Check all fasteners after 500 miles.
